Out of the Box Theatre Company is a nonprofit community theatre company dedicated to bringing contemporary musicals to the Santa Barbara stage. We strive to make use of local talent, bringing together some of the top performers, musicians and designers in the Santa Barbara community in order to present entertaining, edgy, and socially relevant shows that fall outside of the common expectations of musical theatre.

Led by artistic director Samantha Eve, Out of the Box Theatre Company was founded in 2009 and presented its first show, Reefer Madness: The Musical, at Center Stage Theater in April 2010. We bring "the best musical theatre you've never seen" to the Santa Barbara community, and with two shows a season, aim to bring awareness of lesser-known contemporary musicals to local audiences.
