Out of the Box Theatre Company is always interested in meeting talented individuals who are interested in joining our nonprofit Advisory Board to help us impact our community. If you are interested in helping Out of the Box continue to grow and improve our ability to serve our community through our cutting-edge theatre programming, this may be an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you. The Basics

• Serve at least one single year term

• Attend semi-annual board meetings

• Serve on 2 committees OR waive this commitment with an annual $500 required donation. Current committees include Marketing (ex: putting up posters, assisting with advertising), Fundraising (ex: helping to organize fundraising events, grant-writing), and Production (ex: costuming, photography, helping out backstage, running concessions).

• Board members serve as OOTB ambassadors to the community, helping to spread the word about our work. This includes bringing friends to OOTB productions and events, and promoting the work of the theater in their social circles and/or on social media.

What to Expect

We are interested in gathering individuals with varied experiences and backgrounds that reflect our wonderfully diverse Santa Barbara community. The questions below help to frame a board member’s responsibilities. If you believe that you have the passion, skills, insight, experience, and/or a love of theatre that could help us, we want to hear from you!

• Will I be comfortable upholding and advocating for Out of the Box’s mission and values, including important equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility principles?

• Do I have personal, community, or business contacts that could be valuable to Out of the Box?

• Do I have particular skills or knowledge that could help the Board?

• Will I help with outreach activities aimed at increasing the attendance at Out of the Box shows and events? 

• Am I prepared to support fundraising activities to cultivate donors, solicit donations, or host and/or attend events?

• Am I excited about becoming part of Out of the Box Theatre Company and helping to build its vision for the future?
