SYNOPSIS: A satirical tribute to the science fiction and B-list horror movies of the 20th century, The Rocky Horror Show centers around two naive lovers, Brad and Janet. Seeking shelter from a thunderstorm in an old castle, they find themselves thrust into the laboratory of the cross-dressing mad scientist Dr. Frank 'N' Furter and his motley crew. Stripped of inhibitions - and their clothes - Brad and Janet embark on a wild, unforgettable journey of pleasure and self-discovery. Reality, fiction, and camp collide in this mash-up of comics, rock and roll, and late-night horror flicks.

OTHER INFO: Rehearsals begin September 18 and will generally be held four evenings a week. Performances will be October 31-November 4 at Center Stage Theater. Stipend available for all roles.

[USHERETTE] Female, 18-30. A starry-eyed usherette at the run down movie theatre where the film (what is actually the musical) is being shown.

[BRAD] Male, 25-35. Baritenor. Quirky, but very much in love with his fiance, Janet. Overly optimistic at times. A super-square, healthy young man.

[JANET] Female, 25-35. Mezzo soprano belt. Good girl who is madly in love with Brad. She always seems to be frightened of something and keeps losing more of her clothes throughout the story. Emotionally weak and caves into pressure easily. Discovers her sensuality and sexuality after being seduced by Frank 'N' Furter. The most legit voice in the cast - comfortable with some light belting but can also sound classical in head voice.

[DR. FRANK 'N' FURTER] Male, 30-40. Baritenor. Master of the castle. Welcomes Janet and Brad with open arms. Obsessed with creating the perfect man in his laboratory. Master of seduction. A sweet transvestite, all-purpose mad scientist from the planet Transexual in the galaxy of Transylvania. Seeking an actor with brilliant comic timing and incredible charisma. Performers with drag experience are especially welcome.

[MAGENTA] Precast.

[RIFF RAFF] Precast.

[COLUMBIA] Precast.

[EDDIE] Male, 25-35. Baritenor. A delivery man experimented on by Frank, during which he "went to pieces." Has half a brain. A 50s style rocker/biker who is now part zombie and misses the rock and roll life. Sings heavy hard rock and roll. Comes back to life only to die again after his solo.

[ROCKY] Male, 18-30. Tenor. Frank's magnificent creation. A rather simple, child-like mind in the body of an Adonis. Occasionally melancholy. Must be in excellent shape, muscular, and comfortable with wearing little clothing.

[DR. SCOTT] Precast.

[NARRATOR] Male or female, 30-70. Mostly non-singing. Intense narrator and possible psychic. Guides us through the show in a dry, British-humor-inspired manner. Tells a great story full of thrills, suspense and ultimately tragedy. Must be able to improvise and handle a vocal audience if need be. A unique speaking voice is required and must have a strong presence.

[PHANTOMS] Male and female, all ages. Hedonists and deviants. Circus skills and gymnastic dancers welcome.
